FiteBac® Antimicrobial
Cavity Cleanser

2% K21 QAS aqueous ethanol solution
FiteBac® Antimicrobial Cavity Cleanser removes debris in carious lesion preparations and penetrates exposed dentin tubules. This activity allows restorative adhesives to tightly bind to the prepared dentin surfaces while addressing residual microbial contamination within the restoration site.

How does FiteBac® work?

FiteBac® K18 QAMS is a well-known
Si-Quat biocide covalently bound to a silane core containing acrylate functionality.

  • Acrylate functionality allows for
    co-polymerization within several polymer systems

Antimicrobials do not migrate from the polymer

  • Normal wear of a dental device exposes fresh K18 QAMS creating continuous microbiological protection

K18 QAMS has been FDA-cleared as a component in certain dental appliance resins

Patent protection until 2033.

K18 QAMS is an FDA 510(k) Cleared Antimicrobial MMA/PMMA Acrylic Resin System. The addition of K18 QAMS to an MMA/PMMA acrylic resin has been shown to improve fracture toughness without adversely affecting flexural modulus and strength of the orthodontic acrylic.1

In vitro studies, performed by Dr Frank Tay, Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University, of orthodontic acrylic resins containing 4–6% K18 QAMS have been shown to possess both in vitro immediate diffusional as well as contact-killing antimicrobial properties when tested with Streptococcus mutans, Actinomyces naeslundii and Candida albicans.1

FiteBac® K21 QAS consists of 4 Silane Quaternary Ammonium structures covalently linked to a silane core.

Studies have shown that K21 QAS demonstrates:

  • Does not negatively impact adhesive bond strength to dentin2,3
  • Excellent antimicrobial activity2,4
  • Improves infiltration of adhesive monomers into acid etched dentin2
  • Inhibition of MMP-9 and Cathepsin-K2,4

Patent protection until 2033.
